As waves crash upon the pier
the black cat keeps watch
in the old man's beard.
Watchers are they,
two of a kind;
the lighthouse keeper
and his sneaky feline.
They forego sleep,
as keepers of the light,
to assure safe passage
for seafarers of the night.

I love both the art and the verse .

Beautiful painting, interesting medium (charcoal? pencil? watercolor? mixed med?) – haunting eyes on both the man and the cat. Very expressive, Sue. ❤
