In the northern highlands it's called the breakup, the thawing of the land snow and ice recede replaced by mud and flood the once peaceful winter landscape turns bleak and brown the churning of icy waters and dirt prepare the land for the season ahead the great "breakthrough" the rise of the green the rebirth of life the coming of spring the people of the highlands rejoice! plant seeds tend gardens and revel in having survived the breakup

I like the feel of this poem, Sue. The structure and layout promote comfortable reading while the topic is easy to relate to. Let’s not forget timely.

I love this poem. It a perfect poem. One I wish I’d written…I love free verse..but I have a hard time writing it.I spent too many years rhyming all my poems.

I loved this. Forever a four-season girl, I find so much about transition can be transferred to personal situations. Rebirth is unlimited. Beautiful connection to our current weather.
