Photo Prompt by Roger Bultot

“Darling, look what I found on my walk this morning,” she smiled, struggling to get the highchair through the door.

“Hey, I can help, but aren’t we a tad late in life for a baby?”

She smiled at her husband of thirty years. “Yes, but if you check your messages, you’ll see that your mistress is expecting.”

He dropped his phone and watched dumbfounded as she pulled her suitcase from the closet.

“Where are you going?”

“My lover is flying me to his island. I’ll be drinking margaritas on the beach while you’re changing diapers. Enjoy your new life, darling.”

Written for the Friday Fictioneers. A big shout out to Rochelle @Rochelle Wisoff-Fields-Addicted to Purple for hosting Friday Fictioneers. The weekly challenge is to write a story based on the photo prompt, provided today by Roger Bultot. My challenge was to write a complete story in 100 words or less. This story is exactly 100 words!

  1. Paybacks a bitch, isn’t it? I’ll take the beach and drink anytime over diapers and crying.
It looks like his little fling has flung something big at him. I loved this, Sue. All kinds of emotions wrapped in a small 100-word package. Have a great day … Be Safe

  2. Loved this, Sue. What a hoot! On top of the domestic duties, I wonder if the younger woman is only interested in him for his money and will take him to the cleaners in afew years? A friend of mine was telling me about women who do that dare I use the word “professionally”. Single man with house is a chick magnet and potential victim. I am going to be a lot more protective of my single male friend with house.
    Best wishes,
