Poetry ~ A Love Affair

you greet me every morning
and every morning
you take my breath away
i can't stop staring at the
vastness of your artistry
 i breathe you in
 inhaling your earthly fragrance
have i mentioned how bewitching
early Autumn looks on you
you come alive in a color pallet
of golden hues as you sway
with the morning zephyr

i am in love with this land
brimming with wildflowers,
meadows, aspen, and pine groves
even the rocky outcroppings
add allure to the rolling hills

i will spend the rest of my days
writing love letters to you,
my new muse
this magical place I call home
Sunset on our property in the Okanogan Highlands of Washington State

Poetry ~ Hearts of Steel

she hung her heart on the coat rack
vowing never to wear it again
it did not protect her from the elements
in fact, it left her feeling exposed
she decided to treat herself
to the latest in heart fashion: steel
strong, impenetrable,
and highly recommended
by the fashion gurus
of the Broken Heart Society
it was no longer fashionable to
wear your heart on your sleeve
the fall fashion trend required
full body coverage
it was all the rage
"hearts of steel"

Poetry ~ A Dance with Laughter

i danced with laughter last night
he is good to me
i need to spend more time with him

past came calling
but i didn't accept the charges
he's too moody and sentimental

love and i had afternoon tea
in a thunderstorm
he is essential

future rang the bell
i peered through the peep hole
he smiled at me

dream and i have an understanding
he is only allowed to visit
when he's not a nightmare
