Poetry ~ Hearts of Steel

she hung her heart on the coat rack
vowing never to wear it again
it did not protect her from the elements
in fact, it left her feeling exposed
she decided to treat herself
to the latest in heart fashion: steel
strong, impenetrable,
and highly recommended
by the fashion gurus
of the Broken Heart Society
it was no longer fashionable to
wear your heart on your sleeve
the fall fashion trend required
full body coverage
it was all the rage
"hearts of steel"

Poetry ~ Love Letter

The day 12 NaPoWriMo prompt challenges us to write a Triolet poem. "These eight-line poems involve repeating lines and a tight rhyme scheme. The repetitions and rhymes can lend themselves to humorous poems, as well as to poems expressing dramatic or sorrowful moods." My poem is more in the sorrowful moods category.
i am the love letter you never read
written for a dreamer a lifetime ago
confession of the heart, not of the head
i am the love letter you never read
composed of all that was never said
the words of a love you'll never know
i am the love letter you never read
written for a dreamer a lifetime ago
